If you’ve ever wondered what a stylist’s wishlist looks like, what’s really inside the wardrobes of those who know fashion best, and you love drawing inspiration from the outfits of insiders and fashionistas, you’ve come to the right place. Miriam Mirá, our Head of Styling, leads the creative direction and styling development at MANGO; in other words, she’s responsible for transforming the latest trends into looks so appealing, inspiring and original that you’ll want to add them to your wardrobe sooner rather than later. But what about her? What does a garment need to do to make it onto her list of favorites this summer? According to her, there are three rules: “Firstly, I have to feel a connection with the garment; secondly, I have to be sure that, no matter how many years go by, I’ll still be happy to see it in my wardrobe; and, finally, it has to be versatile – I have to be able to wear it on all sorts of occasions.” Makes sense, doesn’t it? Scroll down and take note: this is how a MANGO stylist dresses.

“I love it when clothes have their own personality; I usually look for that perfect balance between the unexpected and the wearable, such as any of the dresses from the ECKHAUS LATTA x MANGO collection. This one is sexy, but with an intellectual edge, and you can wear it in so many different ways. I mean, you couldn’t ask for more from a dress.”

“As soon as the weather improves, I look for a nice pair of kitten heels so I can walk 10,000 steps if I need to. The ones in my basket tick two boxes for me: the softness of the suede and the splash of colour. They’re comfortable, fun, and really lift any look. You don’t need anything else.”

“I haven’t bought myself an XL braided leather bag, and I’m really keen to get my hands on this one, which is the perfect size for any occasion, whether it’s work, the airport... I always carry a million things in my bag and I need it to be sturdy without compromising on style. I think this is the sort of bag I’ll keep for many years to come.”

“One trend to keep an eye on is Napoleon jackets. I think they’re a good investment because they help you transition, style-wise, from summer to autumn. If you’re a fan of art history and the Empire style, you’ll understand just how much I love this jacket. You have to be careful with trends, but I’ve got a trick for knowing whether I really want something: I save loads of screenshots on my mobile of everything I fancy; if, after a few weeks, I still feel that instant attraction when I see it, then I know it wasn’t just an impulse buy.”

“Finally, I think that if I could only make one purchase this summer, it would be a pair of baggy pants. Although it might not seem like it, they’re a really versatile item that works with all sorts of looks, both day and night, and I find them particularly fun to wear. Although, speaking of trousers, I have to confess that there’s hardly a month that goes by without a pair of jeans in my basket. I love thinking about how a garment originally designed for miners has become something so versatile and timeless.”
